Nothing New

Not much new over here in the Midwest!

  • I have been sick for 10 days in a row. It’s been really fun. Kind of bummed that I’m finally feeling better today.
  • In the last two weeks I had to part ways with my brown and black boots. It was sad.
  • Currently, my favorite snack is raw almonds mixed with raisins. Try it, you won’t be disappointed.
  • I stumbled upon Teavana over the weekend and purchased my first bag of loose leaf tea. An old coworker bought me a tea pot as a going away gift at my last job. That was 7 months ago. I am excited to finally put it to use!
  • I got a hair cut. Not just a typical “I need a trim and my layers redone.” I’m talking 8 inches of hair off my head.

Why do short work weeks always seem so much longer than a regular work week? This week was never ending and I couldn’t be happier that today is Friday. This weekend will be spent enjoying time with friends, (hopefully) getting snowed in, making some money, and of course, football! (Go Giants!)

Before I remove myself from the blog world for the weekend, I leave you with this little gem:

15 ways to tie a scarf  (Thanks, Mom!)

I don’t know about you, but I tend to wear scarves every day in the winter. Before my mom sent me that link this morning, I only knew of three ways to wear my scarf. There is no doubt I will be referring to those instructions to try and mix it up a bit. For today, I have been wearing my scarf like so:

I can’t wait to give a new option a try this weekend! I think that numbers 1, 8, and 15 will be making an appearance sometime soon.

Which one’s are your favorite?

Have a good weekend!

Early Morning Workout

Being in and out of the gym before sunrise feels so good but so wrong at the same time. Every time I get my butt out of bed and to the gym before the work day, I always feel extremely happy that I did it.

Despite getting less than 6 hours of sleep last night, I woke up this morning feeling motivated to knock off the 4 miles on my half marathon training plan. (Note to self: tonight, make sleep a priority)

My 4 miles flew by thanks to this work out:

Instead of just running at a steady pace for X amount of miles, I find myself enjoying my work outs a lot more when there is a little variety. For example, changing up the speed or incline. It is easier for me to make it through multiple miles when I have short term goals within the total work out. Telling myself that I need to run 4 miles sounds a lot harder than focusing on the first .4 of a mile. Give this work out a try!

First NFL Football Game

My birthday weekend started off pretty awesome and only got better.

It was filled with some half marathon training, relaxing, and a lot of football!

Phil is a huge NY Giants fan which has made me one by default. The Giants were playing the Packers in the playoffs and with Green Bay only being 2.5 hours away, Phil bought tickets without hesitation. I was so excited when he asked me to join him for the game. This past Sunday was the first time I had ever been to a NFL game!

We made the 2.5 hour drive to Green Bay, enjoyed tailgating, and then headed in to Lambeau Field. To our surprise, there were quite a few Giants fans who had traveled from all over the country to be at the game.

All in all it was an awesome day and I’m so glad that Phil invited me to go. 🙂

Before heading in to the game. All bundled up (with a hat much too large for my head)!

Look at all of that blue! Go Giants!

Us inside Lambeau Field.

The Giants pulling off a W made the trip even more worth it. It will be exciting to see how the Giants do throughout the rest of the playoffs. As of yesterday, I am calling myself a fan.

Quarter of a Century

This past weekend something happened.

I turned 25, gah!

My birthday was on Friday the 13th this year and I am lucky enough to say that nothing bad happened. In fact, a lot of good things happened.

My friend surprised me at work with these.

(From Gigi’s Cupcakes)

Phil showed up at my apartment with these.

Beautiful. I can’t stop looking at them.

Phil took me out to dinner at Sardine where we split a bottle of wine and ate delicious food.

And then we enjoyed a quiet night. Although it was weird to not be out partying with all of my friends like I did last year to bring in my 24th birthday (I miss them!), a quiet night in was exactly what I needed.

Phil and I both turned 25 in the past two weeks and I have high hopes that this will be a very good year, for the both of us. 🙂

Brining it back

Two months is a normal amount of time to go without blogging, right?

With a new year upon us I am really motivated to bring back my blog. I don’t know how often I will post but I do know that I miss having something to look back on to remind me of all the good times that I’ve had over the last few months! With that being said, here is a little recap in photos of what has been going on in my life during my two month hiatus from blogging. Enjoy!

Girls night out in Madison

Thanksgiving in Hilton Head, South Carolina

Christmas in Maine

New Years Eve in Chicago with friends from Boston 🙂

The end.

Capitol Views

This is the view from my current office:

Capitol in Madison, WI.

Can’t complain since my last view when I used to look up from my computer was a wall to my cube. I’d say this is a serious upgrade!

My new job also allows me to come home every day during lunch. Loving that little perk.

Back to work! Happy Tuesday.
